Invitations Proofing In Detail?

What Is Proofing?

Proofing is the process of reviewing a digital preview of your invitation design before it goes to print. It shows your wording, layout, fonts, and colour choices in full.

What Will I Receive?

You will receive a PDF proof by email, prepared by our typesetters. It will show the front and, where relevant, the back of your invitation, set in your chosen design.

How Will I Review My Proof?

Please check your proof carefully for spelling, names, dates, and formatting. We recommend reviewing it with someone you trust to ensure every detail is correct.

Can I Request Changes?

Yes. One round of revisions is included in your order. If any changes are needed, you can reply directly to the proofing email and our typesetters will make the adjustments.

What Happens After Approval?

Once you confirm that you are happy with your proof, we begin printing. At this point, no further changes can be made.

How Long Does It Take?

Your initial proof will be sent within 2 working days. Once you have approved the final version, your finished invitations will ship within 15 working days.

What Else Should I Know?

The design and finish will match the product image and name selected at the time of placing your order and as confirmed in your order confirmation. Our typesetters may make minor layout refinements to ensure your wording fits the design beautifully. Full details about proofing will also be included when you receive your proofing email.

Bespoke Press Die Block

To produce your letterpress, foiled, embossed, or engraved wedding invitations, a bespoke metal die is created. This die is precision-made using your chosen wording and layout, forming a raised block that presses each detail into the paper with clarity and finesse. Once made, your die is carefully archived, allowing for future reproductions if required.

Luxury Signature Packaging

Your order is presented in our signature packaging, designed to feel as special as what lies inside. From the weight of the box to the softness of the materials, each element is chosen to protect your wedding stationery and to honour the moment it represents.

Address Labels For Each Envelope

We love adding an extra special touch. That’s why we provide bespoke, shaped labels for every colour-matching envelope, ensuring your wedding invitations are sent with thoughtful detail and room to hand-address each one.

An Experience from the Moment It Arrives

From the first reveal to the final layer, unboxing is part of the occasion. Each order is meticulously arranged and presented with elegance, designed to honour what it holds. A reflection of the beauty, sentiment and significance within.

Knowing The Craftsmanship

At Story of Elegance, we use only traditional methods to produce all our collections. Each wedding invitation is crafted using time-honoured techniques, with every finish chosen for its beauty, depth and timelessness. Here’s a closer look at how each detail is brought to life:

Letterpress

Letterpress is the process we use to press your wording into the paper using a metal die. The die is inked, then pressed into the surface, leaving a deep impression you can see and feel. It creates a refined, tactile finish that gives weight to every word.

Hot-Foiling

Hot foiling is the process we use to add a metallic glossy finish to your wording. A heated metal die presses foil onto the paper, leaving behind a smooth, light-catching shine in gold, silver or other metallic tones.

Embossing

Embossing is the process we use to raise part of your design above the surface of the paper. A shaped die pushes the paper forward from underneath, creating a raised effect without ink or foil. It adds depth and texture in the most understated way.

Engraving

Engraving is the process we use to create a crisp, finely raised design. Your wording is etched into a metal die, then filled with ink and pressed into the paper from behind. The result is an elegant raised surface with a subtle indentation on the reverse and a finish long associated with traditional printing.

Bespoke Press Block Die

For each wedding invitation, we create a bespoke press die block based on your chosen wording and layout. This metal form is made specifically for you and used across all traditional finishes, including letterpress, hot foiling, embossing and engraving.

Whether it carries ink, foil or simply shapes the paper, the die allows us to press every detail with accuracy and depth. Once produced, your die is carefully archived and ready to be used again for future pieces in your suite.
